Tomorrow in Sing Tao, we will have Chef Karen's signature Granola recipe. Granola is rolled oats combined with maple syrup and nuts and baked until crispy. Not only is it healthy breakfast fare, it also makes an excellent snack. You can use any combination of nuts and dried fruits to suit your taste.
Although granola in its various forms is readily available in supermarkets and health food store, it is much more rewarding to make your own. First, it contains ingredients that you like, and secondly, it tastes better.
This recipe is supplied by Chef Karen Bornarth who both teaches and is the instructional coordinator for the bread program at The French Culinary Institute in New York City. Karen also writes regularly about food and other subjects for Martha Stewart magazines. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Let's kickstart this year of 2009 with a satisfying, mouth-watering breakfast and may this beginning give us the energy we need to make the most of 2009.
My choice to start the first meal of 2009 is definitely Pancakes because if done right, this is the most gratifying dish.......and it has taken me over 20 years of pursuit to find the perfect pancake recipe.
